The writer moved here - near the castle of Eger - from Gárdony (West Hungary). He ordered an other house for his family to be built, covered his own windows with boards, and choked the doors with pillow blocks because he wanted to compose in full calmness. (Géza Gárdonyi is also known as the "Hermit of Eger".) It took him two years to accomplish the novel "Stars of Eger", which was finished in 26 October, 1899. Other famous works such as "Unvisible man" and "Captives of God" were also written here. The library with a few thousand books (half of them was written in French and German languages), his desk with the typewriter and a few handwritings (some of them made with code writing) can be seen in the house.
